Con Sarazen, Australian Democrats candidate for Batman

Con Sarazen, Australian Democrats candidate for BatmanBorn, bred, educated and now raising a family of two within Batman electorate, Australian Democrats candidate, Con Sarazen, is honoured to be running in the seat of his birth.

He believes that people are crying out for a progressive voice that is genuine about social justice and offers the opportunity for all to succeed.

“Australian politics is in an arrested development phase at the moment; having reached the cul de sac that was the economic rationalist agenda under Howard.

“Recently, the power and influence of Corporate Australia reached its inevitable conclusion when the mining and media companies helped to sack the democratically elected Prime Minister, Kevin Rudd.

“As a passionate progressive my aim is to push the political debate to the centre, and refocus the agenda on people and participatory democracy.

“A vote for the Australian Democrats is a vote for action on an Immediate withdrawal of all Australian troops currently serving in Afghanistan and Iraq; a legal acknowledgement on same-sex marriages; $4B to be spent on a comprehensive Mental Health Care scheme; a National Dental Health scheme; $500M increase in Indigenous Health; urgent action on climate change with an ETS scheme that feeds the re-investment into genuine clean energy; and an immediate call for a plebiscite on a republic.”

Before his involvement with the Australian Democrats, Con Sarazen worked for media and telecommunication companies. Now his time is divided between his family, cycling, health and beauty businesses, and progressive political causes.  Visit Con Sarazen’s website.
